KCC to Offering Open House and Classes

Kapiolani Community College is having an Open House night on one Tuesday, every month.  This Open House will have speakers who will present what Kapiolani Community College has to offer you.  Also how to finance your college career.  The next Open House will be on Tuesday, September 16, at 6 p.m. in Classroom Ilima 102.  Check out their flyer here.

KCC is offering computer classes to learn practical computer skills.  This week long class will cover an introduction to Personal Computers, Microsoft Word 2007 and Excel 2007, Windows environment, Internet and E-mail.  Financial assistance can be attained though Oahu Work Links Centers (Dillingham, 843-0733.  Waipahu, 675-0010.  Waianae, 696-7067)

Time: 8:00am – 4:00pm (40 hours of instruction)

Due to the finalization of the sale of our Cargo Operation on 5/14/2008, Aloha Airlines, Inc. has ceased all active operations.  Regretfully there is no medical or dental insurance effective 5/15/2008.   Please contact your insurance carrier for HIPAA certification and cancellation notice. There are options being offered to affected employees.

   HMSA members:

 

HMSA has developed the Extended Benefit Program to provide an option to  help Aloha Airlines employees continue their HMSA health plan coverage.  The Extended Benefit Program provides comprehensive medical and drug  coverage for Aloha Airlines employees and retirees who lost their  Aloha-sponsored health care coverage or Aloha-sponsored COBRA  continuation coverage.  This program is intended to be a short-term option. Coverage under this  program will continue through Dec. 31, 2008.

 

For more information about the Extended Benefit Program, as well as  other individual plan options available from HMSA, please call HMSA's  Account Management and Sales department at 948-5555 on Oahu.  Neighbor Island members may call 1-800-620-4672 toll free for assistance with your coverage needs.  You may also visit the HMSA office nearest you and meet with a licensed Marketing Representative. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Bankruptcy Update: Claim Extension

Proof of Claim Forms

There has been many questions about what to do if Aloha Airlines still owes people money.  If you feel that Aloha Airlines still owes you money, you need to complete a Proof of Claims form and return it to the Bankruptcy Court.  Extended time has been given until August 6th, 2008.  There were forms mailed out to every employee, if you don't have a form go to:

   Aloha For Aloha a Big Success!

Aloha For Aloha Block party was a huge success.  The final tally has not been finalized but everyone involved is very optimistic about the whole experience.  Many thanks to all who came out to help, to all the bands that entertained us, to all the sponsors who donated everything, and especially to Don and Marion Murphy who were instrumental to setting up the whole thing.  Aloha for Aloha is humbled by all the support...  Thanks...

The National Group Protection, is the carrier of our accident, critical illness, and life insurance policies

that were purchased by our members.  They are allowing us to transport these policies with us with

the premiums being directly paid by the member.  Different options for paying is available.
